Toni: A Soccer Playing Humanoid Robot
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper describes the humanoid robot Toni that has been designed to play soccer in the RoboCup Humanoid League. The paper details Toni’s mechanical and electrical design, perception, self localization, behavior control, and infrastructure. Toni is fully autonomous, has a low weight (2.2kg), and is much taller (74cm) than most servo-driven humanoid robots. It has a wide field of view camera, ample computing power, and wireless communication. Toni possesses basic soccer skills. It walks dynamically in all directions (up to 20cm/s in forward direction) and turns on the spot. It perceives the ball and the goals and localizes itself on the field. Toni is able to approach the ball and to dribble it. It can kick the ball without falling. We performed tests in our lab and penalty kick demonstrations at RoboCup German Open 2005. Toni’s successors Jupp, Sepp, and Max performed well at the RoboCup 2005 Humanoid League competitions.

PSO-Based Path Planning Algorithm for Humanoid Robots Considering Safety
In this paper we introduce an improvement in the path planning algorithm for the humanoid soccer playing robot which uses Ferguson splines and PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization). The objective of the algorithm is to find a path through other playing robots to the ball, which should be as short as possible and also safe enough. Ferguson splines create preliminary paths using random generated para...
متن کاملStudy of Evolutionary and Swarm Intelligent Techniques for Soccer Robot Path Planning
Finding an optimal path for a robot in a soccer field involves different parameters such as the positions of the robot, positions of the obstacles, etc. Due to simplicity and smoothness of Ferguson Spline, it has been employed for path planning between arbitrary points on the field in many research teams. In order to optimize the parameters of Ferguson Spline some evolutionary or intelligent al...
متن کاملNimbRo 2005 Team Description
This document describes the RoboCup Humanoid League team NimbRo of University of Freiburg in preparation for the competition to be held in Osaka in July 2005. Our team uses a variety of robots for playing soccer: RoboSapien, Kondo, Toni, and Fritz. These robots are either constructed in our lab, based on a construction kit, or based on a low-cost commercial robot. The paper describes the robot ...
متن کاملGrid-Based Occupancy Mapping and Automatic Gaze Control for Soccer Playing Humanoid Robots
With advances in walking abilities of autonomous soccer playing humanoid robots, the world modeling and state estimation problem moves into focus, as only sufficiently accurate and robust modeling allows to leverage improved locomotion capabilities. A novel approach for dense grid-based obstacle mapping in dynamic environments with an additional application for automatic gaze control is present...
متن کاملThe challenge of motion planning for humanoid robots playing soccer
Motion planning for humanoids suffers from the high dimensionality of the configuration space. Moreover, the need to satisfy dynamic and static constraints increases the overall difficulty. While the above challenges hold for any humanoid robot, the soccer scenario adds difficulties narrowly addressed in humanoids motion planning research. Dynamic environments with active opponents, the require...
